Annual report 2005 on the relations with the national parliaments

The Commission has approved a report of the actions undertaken in 2005 within the framework of the relations of the Institution with national parliaments, in compliance with the priority given to this issue by the current College.

Communication from the Commission to the European parliament, the Council and the European Economic and Social Committee – Implementing the partnership for growth and jobs : Making Europe a pole excellence on corporate social responsibility

The Commission has approved a communication launching a European Alliance for corporate social responsibility (CSR), adding an important new element to its strategy to support the development of CSR in Europe. Based on the evaluation of the work accomplished these last years in the area of CSR, the Commission’s proposals aim at further encouraging voluntary initiatives amongst European enterprises with a view to maximise their contribution to sustainability, and to growth and jobs in Europe, in the framework of the revised Lisbon strategy.

COMPETITION

Commission Decision relating to a proceeding under Article 81 of TEC

The Commission has adopted a Decision, relating to Article 81 (1) of the EC Treaty, and addressed to the Football Association Premier League Limited (FAPL) in the United Kingdom. The Decision concerns the centralised sale of media rights of the British Premier League football matches. In the light of the commitments undertaken by the FAPL in that decision, the Commission came to the conclusion that there are no longer grounds for action by the Commission. The procedure in the present case is thus closed, without prejudice to Article 9 (2) of Council Regulation (EC) No. 1/2003.

Commission Regulation imposing a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of certain footwear with uppers of leather originating in the People's Republic of China and Vietnam

In the framework of the anti-dumping proceeding initiated on 7 July 2005, the Commission has adopted, in principle, a Regulation imposing a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports into the Community of certain footwear with uppers of leather originating in the People’s Republic of China and the Vietnam. Delegated powers have been given to Mr MANDELSON to formally adopt the Regulation.

In line with Regulation (EC) No 2111/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 December 2005 providing the establishment of a “black list” at least within one month of receiving the information communicated by the Member States on air companies, the Commission has adopted a Regulation establishing the Community list of air carriers which are subject to an operating ban within the Community referred to in Chapter II of Regulation (EC) No 2111/2005, as well as a Regulation laying down implementing rules relating to this list.
